Harper Elementary's 5 Points of Pride:

1st Point of Pride: GaDOE Recognition for GMAS Increase in Literacy

The CCPS Board of Education and Superintendent recognized Harper Elementary for earning the designation of  a “2022-2023 Literacy Leader” from the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). GaDOE honored Harper Elementary and five other schools in the “growth” category for demonstrating a 15 percent or higher increase from the school year 2021-2022 to 2022-2023 in third-grade reading.

The GaDOE Literacy Leader Banner is displayed in the front of our school near the media center entrance.  Our learning community takes pride in the 19.8% increase achieved by the third grade team and scholars.

2nd Point of Pride: Tutor.com Video Challenge Winner

The CCPS Board of Education and Superintendent recognized Harper Elementary as the winner of the Tutor.com Student Video Contest.  Our student participants were: Skylar Robinson - 4th Grade, Omasirichi Akunne - 4th Grade, Kylee Warner - 4th Grade,                Kevin Tovar - 4th Grade, Ameedah Olawuyi - 4th Grade, Jayla Robinson - 5th, Kennedy McIntosh - 5th, and Valentina Khoun - 5th Grade.

The students created a 60-second video that highlights the benefits of tutor.com.
The creative video was shared with our scholars and parents which helped promote and share the benefits of this valuable resource.

3rd Point of Pride: Imagine Learning Spring Into Reading Recognition

Imagine Learning recognized classrooms this March for averaging 240+ minutes of program usage. Our first grade students received recognition for being a winning classroom in the "Spring Into Reading Contest" and received a $50 Amazon gift card.

These scholars exemplify the results of consistent hard work and dedication to our learning community.  ESOL students are successfully moving through and testing out of the program, confirming the need and effectiveness of this English language instructional learning opportunity.

4th Point of Pride: Harper Soccer Team  has an undefeated season

This was the first year of soccer at Harper Elementary, and we ended our season as regional champs.  We had a great year and an undefeated season which placed our athletes in the Final Four. Go Hawks!

The soccer team boosted school spirit, as well as parent, student, and teacher involvement.  Cultural diversity improved, and academic excellence was expected from participating athletes.

5th Point of Pride: Step Team Wins Step Challenge

The Harper Hawk Spirit Steppers won the 1st Annual Step and Stride step challenge that was held at Sequoyah Middle School.  The team won first place in the step show category and second place in the stroll off.

The step team allows all grade levels to participate, starting from kindergarten through fifth grade. The team promotes a sense of leadership, academic excellence,  and creativity.
